Presenting the Doc Lounge Official Selection - Autumn '21
The wait is over: Doc Lounge is finally back with an Official Selection worthy of anyone's dark, autumn nights: Your one-stop-shop of must-see documentaries for the fall of 2021.
As per usual, there’s a range of preview screenings, Swedish premieres and award-winning doc’s in store. We’re also a little extra proud to include and present four, female directors' documentary film debuts.
This season we’ll discover a range of stories, such as how coming out as a transvestite in the later part of ones life can feel like in Marisol, or about fighting an addiction and what it’s like to not feeling at home in ones own body in Nina Hobert’s award-winning Julia&I.
In Forget Me Not we’ll meet mothers who have to make an impossible decision: whether to give up their child for adoption, while Raising a School Shooter follows the parents whose children are the perpetrators of some of the US’ most infamous school shootings.
From Tensta in Sweden to Chicago, we’ll listen to heavenly gospel from the Tensta Gospel Choir in Amanda Pesikan’s The Choir, while in the Congo, Renzo Martens is back trying to destroy capitalism through art in his latest work White Cube. At last, in Trust Me, we’ll get to acquaint ourselves with an incredibly charismatic con-man/entrepreneur from Norway.

We'd also like to give a warm welcome to Johanna Ekvall - Doc Lounge Malmö's new Event Manager!
Events will be coordinated and hosted by Doc Lounge's newest team member, event manager Johanna. Johanna is a well-known Malmö-personality whose heart especially beats for the local sports- and culture scenes. Every Tuesday night at Babel, she'll be running the show together with a team of volunteers.
“It was more than eight years ago when I visited a Doc Lounge-event for the first time and it was love at first sight. Over the years since, I’ve been a loyal visitor and have laughed, cried and been touched by the films I’ve seen at Babel.
I’m incredibly proud to now be a part of Doc Lounge, to plan the experience around eight outstanding documentary films—amongst them four titles whose female directors are making their directing debut’s. This fall, captivating meetings and enthralling conversations is what’s in store for what is, most likely, Malmö’s best film audience.” — Johanna Ekvall, Event manager at Doc Lounge Malmö
