Award-winning "Julia&I" hits Swedish cinemas on September 10
Julia&I, Nina Hobert's feature film debut, won the 2021 NORDIC:DOX Award at CPH:DOX, competing with films from all over the Nordic's. Distributed by Doc Lounge, the Swedish cinema premiere is set to September 10.
Julia&I is a personal story about friendship, the way out of an addiction and Nina's search for answers to questions that have been echoing in her head all her life.
It is a (self) portrait of two young women who give everything to each other and the camera. By looking through the lens at her friend Julia, Nina suddenly come to realize what she herself feel she's missing. As Julia seeks her way out of an addiction, Nina begins looking for answers to why she no longer wants to exist. The film, that was meant to be Nina's film, instead evolves into its very own.
"It is surreal to think that this even became a film at all. That what was meant to be some kind of end of life, instead became a way to keep living."
—says director and producer Nina Hobert in a comment.
Previously Nina Hobert has, amongst other things, worked as a composer for Fågelfångarens son (2019). Hobert has produced Julia&I, which has received production support from the Swedish Film Institute’s former documentary film consultant Klara Grunning.
"Julia&I is a film that contains everything Doc Lounge strives to give their audience: It is brave, it is touching and it is completely unforgettable.
We follow Julia and Nina in their search for meaning in life, but from that perspective the film manages to pinpoint this undefined state of our contemporary time. We are incredibly proud to distribute Nina Hoberts feature debut."
— says Jonas Pedersen Hardebrant, Distribution and Development manager at Doc Lounge.
Julia&I (Original title Julia&Jag) is set to premiere in Swedish cinemas on September 10, 2021.
